36-year Navy veteran, retired Admiral James Lyons, Jr. the former Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, and a former senior U.S. military representative to the United Nations was recognized and honored with the 2015 Freedom Shield Award at the “Keeper of the Flame” event at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Postal Museum.
